Chlorophyll Fluorescence Imaging Combined with Active Oxygen Metabolism for Classification of Similar Diseases in Cucumber Plants

نویسندگان

چکیده

It is a great challenge to identify different cucumber diseases at early stages based on conventional methods due complex and similar symptoms. By contrast, chlorophyll fluorescence an indicator of membrane changes or disturbances during plant growth. This research aimed propose effective method for the identification brown spot (BS) anthracnose (AN) in cucumbers imaging, interpret relationship between response coupled with active oxygen metabolism analysis. Support vector machine (SVM) eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) were used classify disease degrees plants. XGBoost more this study, classification accuracy greater than 90% diseased cucumbers. Additionally, model was validated by plants, five-class accuracies 88.2%, 85.0%, 75.0%, 65.0% 75.0% Healthy, BS-slight, BS-severe, AN-slight, AN-severe, respectively. The had higher level reactive species (ROS) accumulation healthy cucumbers, activity levels ROS-scavenging enzymes those spot. analysis parameters discrimination well linked These results demonstrate potential imaging combined detection diseases, regarding types degrees.

Chlorophyll fluorescence imaging of cadmium-treated white cabbage plants

The chlorophyll fluorescence imaging technique is a valuable tool to study the impact of heavy metal stress in plants. The aim of this paper was to investigate the influence of Cd on photosynthetic apparatus of white cabbage (Brassica oleracea subsp. capitata f. alba) plants. Two cabbage cultivars ‘Ditmarska Najwcześniejsza’ (‘DN’; early) and ‘Amager Polana’ (‘AP’; late) were used. Cd was appli...

Temperature--jump chlorophyll fluorescence induction in plants.

In contrast to slower heating rates, a temperature jump reveals complex rise phases in the heat induced chlorophyll fluorescence emission increase in intact plants. Three rise phases have been detected which indicate the stepwise loss of different quenching mechanism of system II fluorescence. Two of the phases appear to reflect heat deactivation of the system II reaction centers, while the oth...

Active Oxygen in Plants

Plant cells produce active oxygen during interactions with potential pathogens. Active oxygen species, including superoxide, hydrogen peroxide, and the hydroxyl radical, could potentially affect many cellular processes involved in plant/pathogen interactions. Active oxygen can be difficult to monitor in plant cells because many of the species are short-lived and are subject to cellular antioxid...

Study on chlorophyll fluorescence spectrum in the application of the BP-ANN for diagnosing cucumber diseases and insect pests

The diagnosis model of the cucumber diseases and insect pests was established by laser-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (LICF) spectroscopy technology combined with Back Propagation Artificial Neural Networks (BP-ANN) algorithm in this research. This model would be used to realize the fast and exact diagnosis of the cucumber diseases and insect pests. Four kinds of in-vivo cucumber leaves (heal...

Kinetics of the oxygen evolution step in plants determined from flash-induced chlorophyll a fluorescence

Photosystem II (PS II) of plants and cyanobacteria, which catalyzes the light-induced splitting of water and the release of oxygen, is the primary source of oxygen in the earth atmosphere. When activated by short light flashes, oxygen release in PS II occurs periodically with maxima after the third and the seventh flashes. Many other processes, including chlorophyll (Chl) a fluorescence, are al...
